The Act Of Killing screening Thursday 23rd January

actofkillingLUCAlmost universally considered one of the best, if not the best film, of 2013 – LUC is delighted to present a screening of Joshua Oppenheimer’s The Act of Killing.

No less an authority than Werner Herzog said “I have not seen a film as powerful, surreal, and frightening in at least a decade… unprecedented in the history of cinema.”

In a country where killers are celebrated as heroes, the filmmakers challenge unrepentant death squad leaders to dramatise their role in genocide. The hallucinatory result is a cinematic fever dream, an unsettling journey deep into the imaginations of mass-murderers and the shockingly banal regime of corruption and impunity they inhabit.

This is another LUC Pay What You Want event where you can decide what your film-going experience was worth and bung it in a sparkly bucket at the end.

The cinematic action will begin shortly after 7.30 at Leamington Spa’s premier arts venue LAMP.
